Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau

Get a taste of Ark-Mex cuisine with a side of cheese dip at the neighborhood hot spot, Heights Taco & Tamale Co.

All things delicious and luxurious cross paths in the affluent Heights neighborhood — a shade-covered, walkable part of town located atop Cantrell Hill in the northern section of Little Rock.

Once part of the Little Rock suburbs and known as Pulaski Heights, The Heights was incorporated by the city in 1903 and annexed in 1916. Some of the architecture of the period can be seen in the quaint bungalows and cottages that intermingle with stately mansions, and some of the homes offer breathtaking views of the Arkansas River and Little Rock.

Despite the neighborhood’s age, it features some of the city’s trendiest shopping and restaurants. Wine bars and bistros mingle with shops and boutiques where you can find a selection of the latest high-end fashions in a relaxing atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat, mainstays like Cheers in The Heights (try the crowd pleasing chopped salmon salad) and Cafe Prego continue to satisfy. You can also indulge yourself at the Sushi Cafe, Heights Taco & Tamale Co. and Boulevard Bread Company, while Prospect Sports Bar & Grill is always a great spot to enjoy a libation and check out a game.

Whether you’re seeking art, décor, designer clothing, toys or books, you can find what you need (and then some) in The Heights’ selection of upscale shops. On the monthly Third Thursdays, the stores stay open until 8 p.m. and offer special sales, free wine and hors d’oeuvres. It’s an opportunity to roam and experience The Heights in a lively setting.
