If you’ve got a regular workout regimen, one of the best things about visiting Central Arkansas is the abundance of recreational activities. Even if you’re not that active, the area’s temperate climate and scenic environs are likely to inspire you to seek some exercise. Whether you’re looking to burn calories or just some time, here’s a handful of activities that you can make as leisurely or lively as you like.

Hike Pinnacle Mountain
Eight trails ranging from easy to strenuous difficulty levels wind their way around Pinnacle Mountain, with some leading to the peak. Serious climbers can choose paths with challenges including dense forests and boulder fields, while those seeking less of an adrenaline rush can follow hard-surface trails. Those who reach the 1,011-foot ascent are rewarded with views of the Arkansas River, downtown Little Rock and Lake Maumelle. Two mountain bike trails also recently opened in the park—the 0.70-mile Rabbit Ridge Trail and the 7.4-mile Jackfork Trail offer mountain bikers more than eight miles of adventure.

The nature-enshrouded trail’s approximately 14 miles run along both sides of the Arkansas River and are linked by the Big Dam Bridge, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge built for that purpose.
